Children’s Programs and Events
The library offers many types of programs for children of all ages throughout the year. The following are descriptions of some of these programs. Also, check our Calendar of Events for specific dates and times or call the library at 309-647-0328 for additional details.
Baby Storytime
Storytime for children newborn – 18 months and their caregiver. Come and enjoy our sensory-rich environment. We will enjoy songs, share literacy tips, stories, and other activities. This program will foster an appreciation for literacy, focus on the loving relationship between adult and child, and be a great meeting group for parents. Our program is held for five weeks during Fall, Winter, and Summer. Advance registration is required.
Toddler Time
Storytime for 1 1/2 – 2-year-olds and an accompanying adult. Come and get your wiggles out and enjoy our very interactive storytime. We will feature different activities, stories, and plenty of movement. Our program is held for five weeks during Fall, Winter, and Summer. Advance registration is required.
Preschool Story Session
Storytime for 3-5-year-olds and an accompanying adult. Come and participate in our fun-for-all storytime. We will feature a variety of activities, crafts, dances, and stories. Our program is held for five weeks during Fall, Winter, and Summer. Advance registration is required.
Summer Reading Program
A summer reading program is held each summer for 2 year olds through 12th grade. The theme for our 2023 Summer Reading Program is Find Your Voice.
Special Programs
Special Programs are planned throughout the year often during “No-School” days. Some of our programs include: LEGO and Mega Block Builders, Bedtime Tales, On-The-Spot Storytimes, Page Turner Book Club, Make-and-Take Crafts, Movie at the Library, and many others.
